Seeking Nurse Educator for TNA District 3

We have a great need for board members for District 3, particularly a Nurse Educator to help plan educational events for our District 3 members. We have a wonderful team, and need someone passionate about nursing and education! If you are interested, we’d love to see you at the next Membership Meeting at Maggiano’s and bring a friend!

As all of you know we continue to deal with a hepatitis A outbreak in Nashville. This remains the only location in the state with an outbreak. As of today (June 19, 2018) we have a total of 42 cases in the state and 26 of those are in Metro Nashville.

We posted a new webpage on the hepatitis A outbreak with information for the public and health care providers. There is also a section on updated case counts for the state and we plan on updating the case counts each Friday.

Topic: Crucial Conversations Overview

Speaker: Scott Buchanan, RN Director of Education, Williamson Medical Center – Certified Crucial Conversations  Instructor

Where:   Maggiano’s, Nashville, TN

When: 6:00 – 8:30 pm

Crucial Conversations: Tools for Talking When Stakes are High discusses how to handle disagreements and high-stakes communication. It is written on the premise that when you are stuck in any situation–whether it’s at home or work–there is a crucial conversation keeping you from accomplishing the desired results. If you can learn to speak up in these crucial moments effectively, then you can accomplish the results you are after. The authors support this idea by referring to people who are considered influential by their peers and managers in their work and relationships. They studied successful communicators over a period of 25 years and concluded that what typically set them apart from the rest of the pack was their ability to deal with crucial conversations. They possess a skill-set that is easy to learn and allows them to face any situation with nearly anybody–no matter power, position, or authority.—taken from http://www.wikisummaries.org/wiki/Crucial_Conversations:_Tools_for_Talking_When_Stakes_are_High
