October 2010 Member News

Cassand Dodson, BSN, RN, graduated with a BSN from Austin Peay State University on May 7, 2010. She is a TNA District 1 member.

Flotyl K. Gresham MSN, RN, who is a Pediatric Palliative Care Coordinator at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital, will be graduating August 15, 2010, with Master of Science Nursing Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Memphis. He is a TNA District 1 member.

July 2010 Member News

Kathy Diane Butler, DNP, RN, FNP-BC, NP-C, recently received a Doctor of Nursing
Practice degree from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. Butler received an
MSN from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 1987 and a
Post-Master's FNP Certificate from Belmont University in 1995. She is certified
as a family nurse practitioner by both the American Nurses Credentialing Center
and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She practices in Jackson, Tenn.

 

 

Kathleen T. McCoy, DNSc, RN, APRN-BC, CS, served as an Alternate Delegate at the
ANA House of Delegates in June. McCoy represented TNA and nursing by visiting the offices of
Sen. Lamar Alexander and Sen. Bob Corker during the event held in Washington, D.C.
McCoy is an Assistant Professor in Nursing-Academic Programs at the University of Tennessee
Health Science Center in Memphis. She serves as TNA District 9 President.

 

 

 

Clare Thomson-Smith, MSN, JD, RN, FAANP, was named Assistant Dean for Faculty
Practice at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. Thomson-Smith heads the
Center for Advanced Practice and Allied Health, and will continue in that role as well.

 

 

 


Carol Thompson, PhD, RN, ACNP, FNP, FCCM, has been selected for induction as a
Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. Induction will occur at the Academy’s
37th Annual Meeting and Conference on November 13, 2010 in Washington.
Thompson is a Professor of Nursing in Academic Programs at the University of
Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis and a member of the Tennessee
Board of Nursing.

 

 

Mona Wicks, PhD, RN, has been selected for induction as a Fellow of the American
Academy of Nursing. Induction will occur at the Academy’s 37th Annual Meeting and
Conference on November 13, 2010 in Washington. A Robert Wood Johnson Executive
Nurse Fellow, Wicks is Professor and Associate Dean for Research in the College
of Nursing at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
