Meeting the Challenges
of a Changing Profession
TNA’s 2002 Annual Convention offered participants the opportunity to learn more about Meeting the Challenges of a Changing Profession from nationally-known keynote speaker Dr. Connie Vance and a host of other qualified nursing professionals. Educational sessions covering topics from Vance’s Creating Nursing’s Future to Developing Intercultural Competence in Multicultural Healthcare Workers provided a platform for discussion of many of the challenges that nursing faces today–and a starting point for collaboration and progress toward reaching success in meeting those challenges head-on.
The new format for exhibits this year was well-received by both exhibitors and attendees–a three-hour block of time devoted exclusively to exhibits that allowed for uninterrupted networking and product, service and recruitment promotion. With 50 exhibitors present and nearly all of the conference participants in attendance, the exhibit hall was filled with energy, enthusiasm and excitement.
What an honor to have six TNA Past Presidents attend at various times during the convention! Those present included Frances Edwards, Peggy Strong, Virginia Trotter Betts, Margaret Heins, Gary Crotty and Mary Windham.
TN-PAC and TNF Contributions
The Tennessee Nurses Political Action Committee and the Tennessee Nurses Foundation are sincerely grateful for the generous contributions received during convention.
TN-PAC received $9,207 in contributions and TNF received $6,575. As always, we pledge to put these additional funds to good use in the months ahead.
