TENNESSEE NURSES ASSOCIATION HIRES MENESSES
AS NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Nurses Association (TNA) announced today that Deanna L. Menesses is the new executive director for the organization.
Menesses replaces Louise Browning, CAE, who is retiring after more than 20 years of service to TNA as executive director and lobbyist. Browning will continue as TNA lobbyist until the adjournment of the current legislative session.
“Deanna Menesses comes to us from Covington, Louisiana, with an excellent background in association management. Her areas of expertise range from fiscal management and strategic planning to membership recruitment and retention,“ said Maureen A. Nalle, PhD, RN, president of TNA.
Menesses‘ professional career includes serving as executive director of the Louisiana/Mississippi chapter of the Crohn‘s and Colitis Foundation and chief executive officer of the Alliance for Lung Cancer, both national non-profit organizations. She was executive director of the Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians (LAFP) for 10 years, where she also served as executive director of the LAFP‘s Foundation. Menesses also served as associate director of the Louisiana Pharmacists Association for seven years.
She holds a bachelor‘s degree in Business Administration from Columbus University. Menesses is a member of the American Society of Association Executives, the Louisiana Society of Association Executives and the Association of Fund Raising Professionals.
Founded in 1905, TNA is the only full-service professional organization for the state‘s 70,000 registered nurses. The mission of TNA is to promote and protect the registered nurse and advance the practice of nursing in order to assure a healthier Tennessee.
