Tennessee Nurses Foundation

The Tennessee Nurses Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 1982 to support programs to meet the special needs of nurses in Tennessee. TNF operates solely on tax-deductible contributions from individuals, corporations, other foundations, grants, and contracts. TNF is responsible for promoting advocacy, education, leadership development, and research.

TNF operates a variety of programs, including a Memorial Education Loan Program providing low interest loans to registered nurses who wish to further their education. Loan recipients must be members of the Tennessee Nurses Association and be enrolled at least halftime in a program of study in an accredited institution of higher education. An attractive announcement of the memorial gift is sent to the person commemorated. Or, if the honoree is deceased, the family will receive the announcement.

TNF also sponsors Leadership Nursing Tennessee, a program designed to cultivate nursing leadership and mentor nursing leaders across the state. Leadership Nursing will provide an opportunity for leadership skills to be enhanced and nurtured through a planned program of activities.

A Research Grant Program offered by TNF provides grants to registered nurses engaged in scientific research projects focusing on the practice of nursing. This program promotes the understanding of the way nursing care contributes to the wellness of Tennesseans by its promotion of projects focused on vital health care issues.

TNF also administers the Tennessee Nurses Professional Assistance Program (now funded by nursing licensure fees through the Board of Nursing). This program offers a voluntary, individualized program for Chemically Dependent and psychologically or physiologically impaired nurses. The Professional Assistance Program provides advocacy, referral, and monitoring services to RNs and LPNs throughout Tennessee.

A specially appointed Board of Directors made up of registered nurses, allied health professionals, and community leaders governs the Foundation.

A contribution to the Tennessee Nurses Foundation is a gift to the people of Tennessee and an investment in the future.

TNF cannot provide these programs without the help and support of Registered Nurses. Any size donation is encouraged. If you contribute $100 or more, you become a member of the “100 Club.”

You have the option of designating whether your contribution is unrestricted to be used as determined by TNF or whether you would like to restrict your contribution to one of the specific programs. Whatever you decide, we hope you’ll send your tax-deductible contribution today!
