Leadership Nursing Tennessee Scholarship Program
The Beginning As you graduate from nursing school and enter the workforce, you’re ready to start your nursing career. You may not realize it, but you are learning how to be a leader, too. That’s why the Tennessee Nurses Foundation (TNF) created the Leadership Nursing Tennessee Program. This scholarship program is designed to enhance nursing leadership abilities by achieving the following:
◊ Expanding the nurse’s knowledge of the community with a focus on socio-cultural, economic, political, and ethical issues.
◊ Motivating nurses to serve as role models of increased involvement in the community.
◊ Developing current and emerging professional nurse leaders from across the state.
◊ Establishing a statewide network of nurse leaders.
How It’s Done TNF recognizes that in order for nurses to participate in public policy development, additional training may be required. This scholarship program provides an opportunity for you to choose a program on the local, regional, state, or national level.
Who’s Eligible? If you’re a Registered Nurse, you’re halfway there. Participation is limited to members of the Tennessee Nurses Association (TNA). You must be practicing in Tennessee and demonstrating leadership qualities with a commitment to professional growth and a larger role of community involvement.
Next Steps ◊ First and foremost, if you’re not a member of TNA, you must join! In addition to being eligible for this scholarship, you’ll have access to all the resources that TNA offers including money-saving benefits and up-to-the-minute information on trends and issues affecting your profession. Please visit the Join TNA page at https://www.tnaonline.org/join_tna.html.
◊ Now that you’re a member, you need to fill out a scholarship application form and submit the document to TNF’s Scholarship Committee. The form is available as a PDF file by clicking below for the Leadership Nursing Tennessee Scholarship Application Form.
◊ All materials MUST be submitted no less than eight weeks prior to the application deadline of the leadership program for which you wish to receive a Leadership Nursing Tennessee scholarship.
Your Responsibilities Upon completion of the leadership program, you will be required to submit a written report to TNF’s Board of Trustees, the Foundation’s governing body, and you may have the opportunity to make an oral presentation to the Board. The TNF Board manages, controls, and directs the affairs and property of the Corporation, subject to its Bylaws, and has all powers necessary to carry out the purposes of the program.
Please call 615-254-0350 or email TNF for additional information or assistance.
